Heritage at Risk: Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Museum Tour at Isel Park Research Facility
Did you know most museums display around 1% of their collection at a time? When not on display, the Regional Heritage Collection of Nelson Tasman is stored at our Isel Park Collection and Research Facility. This precious collection includes over 200,000 taonga and objects, rare books, maps, precious artworks, and historic treasures.
This is your chance to delve deeper into the Regional History Collection of Nelson Tasman.
During the tour, you’ll:
See first-hand where and how the collection is stored and cared for.
Meet some of the passionate individuals who care for the collection and learn about the challenges they face protecting local treasures.
View the storage of the UNESCO Inscribed Tyree Studio Collection amongst 1.2 million precious local photographs.
See for yourself the problems with the Isel Park Research Facility and gain insights into the desperate need for a new facility.

Please note:
The tour can be accessed by wheelchair users.
Children may attend by prior arrangement however prams cannot be accommodated due to space constraints.
As our staff are preparing for a coming exhibition, not all areas of the facility will be accessible.
